GREEN/E FAMILY PHOTOS

The photos on this page have been submitted by Linda Greene, a descendant of the GREEN/GREENE family of the Preston area of Hickory County. She inherited a box full of family photos with no identification information on any of them. We're hoping someone can help her identify the people in these photos. What Linda knows about her Green family is summarized in the two paragraphs below:

"Regarding my grandfather, John Green, he was born 3/25/1887 and died 11/20/1982. He was married to Myrtle J. Smith on 1/3/1907 (her birth 8/31/1890 and death 3/18/1978). They lived in Preston all their lives and Grandma taught Sunday School at the Preston Methodist Church for many years. Grandpa was pretty much a farmer - their farm was located right on Route 54 not far from Route 65 and they lived there until Grandma died in 1978, then Grandpa moved to KC to live with my dad. John Green later added an "e" to the end of his name - my understanding is there was a mix-up between him and another John Green so he added the "e" to his last name. Besides my dad, Everett F. Greene, they also had another son, Clarence A. Greene.

Dad said that John Green was raised by foster parents - "Uncle Lige" and "Aunt Rachel" Reser - I found info on Elijah and Rachel E. Reser from Hickory County and believe they might be the ones, but couldn't get any further info on them. John had three siblings that I'm aware of: Tom Green, Jim Green, and Mary Green. Dad thinks Grandpa's real parents' names were John and Louise but he's not real certain of that. It's just so hard to track someone with a name like "John Green" and we don't know if he had a middle name."
